This web site was created by Janet Tubbs, founder and president of Children's Resource Center in Scottsdale, AZ, USA. In 1975, Janet's began her groundbreaking work with developmentally disabled children using an original program of music, art, movements, puppetry, drama and common sense to help children improve their motor, verbal and social skills. Moving to Arizona in 1981, Janet began working almost exclusively with autistic children who showed marked improvement in increased ability to focus, decreased perseveration and hyperactive behavior. Her unique methods and rapid improvement with autistic children captured the attention of medical doctors, educators and parents who invited her to present her work at hospitals, medical schools and universities. This program includes a slide presentation of children's art work demonstrating their continued progress. In addition to her work with children with disabilities, Janet has developed a prevention and primary intervention program used in schools, clinics and homes throughout the United States. She has written books for parents, preschoolers, preteens and a supplemental preschool curriculum. Her Potato Puppets are used throughout the country with 20 scripts on topics ranging from self-esteem, talking about problems, and death, divorce racism, abuse and drugs. Janet has been featured on radio, television and in newspapers. She is a regular contributor to parenting magazines, and writes online columns on parenting and vegetarianism. Janet is listed in Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in Education. |
